We lost the sheep herding game, but we had fun! Sheep are ugly animals though with weird eyes; I hope that doesn't taint the Bible comparisons for me.
We made pita! Well, we took the dough and threw it on a camp stove, then flipped it. It was really hot, but we're really smart so all was well.
I like pita. A lot.
Those are palm trees. Jericho is the city of palms. The logical conclusion to this syllogism is that this is Jericho. WRONG! But close. This is a representation of Jericho. There is a huge landscaped area representing different areas of Biblical Israel. We went to the real Jericho... must have been prettier back then.
The pine trees across the way represent the Jordan River Valley. The area in front of that is the shepherd's land- a land flowing with milk and honey. Goat's milk and bee's honey, so it actually means shepherd's land. It was worth it to come here just for that fact!
This Torah is over 200 years old! It takes scribes about a year to write one with lots of purification rituals and the such. It's written on animal skin and no one is allowed to touch it, so they use a little pointer when they read. This is what is used in the synagogues. It's beautiful, but I like my scriptures.
